Permaculture Summer Apprenticeship
Permaculture Summer Apprenticeship
June 3 through August 11, 2025
We are seeking applicants for our summer apprenticeship program. Those selected will work and study through an intensive, eight-week schedule that includes our Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) course.
Apprentice applicants will work full-time on agroforestry, natural building, waste management and gardening projects. Apprentices will also help prepare the Permaculture Design Certification course site. They will receive over 60 hours of instruction in addition to our 84-hour PDC course.
Most activities will be at the Cayuta Sun farmstead. Weekly work-and-learn field trips will visit local permaculture projects.
FLPCI apprentices will be creating a temporary learning community within a larger rural community. We seek applicants who not only wish to learn about the principles and applications of permaculture, but also wish to explore the role of community in permaculture practice. During the program, participants will be expected to consider—in addition to their own learning goals—the needs of the apprenticeship community, the sites they will live and work on, Cayutaville’s residents, and the communities they will return to.
Up to six apprentices may be able to camp at Cayuta Sun or within the Cayutaville community. Each residential apprentice is expected to give one eight-hour day of work per week at his or her host site. Camping and lodging accommodations will be rustic with limited electric, water, and cell phone reception.
The apprentice program includes a fee of $1200 for those living on site or $850 for local, commuting apprentices. Your tuition for the apprenticeship includes the full PDC.
We will begin reviewing applications for apprenticeship positions in early March. Please submit your apprenticeship application by March 11th. There may be scholarships available. Please fill out a scolarship application if needed.
