Lively Oaks is a one-year old Permaculture community that functions as an incubator for a number of educational, food, and artistic projects. Our location, at the edge of the Village of Trumansburg, consists of two different contexts: the suburban landscape and an early succession woodland. We are raising chickens (and soon sheep), restoring a 5-acre abandoned hayfield into a silvopasture system, nurturing a small market garden, establishing a mushroom yard, and planting a tree nursery. We have hosted a number of workshops, and we aspire to continue to form an educational space that can enrich our community’s understanding of regenerative living and eating, and to encourage others to integrate what they’ve learned into their everyday lives.
The Forest Farm based at Lively Oaks and will have farm produce, plants, and crafts for sale. We will have our cob pizza oven fired up! There will be farm fresh pizzas for sale, from 12:00-1:30pm, please see a separate registration item regarding lunch.
