#FLXpermaculture Tour Weekend Updates

This weekend is an unprecedented series of events
bringing together the local Finger Lakes
and regional permaculture community.



Friday, 7 p.m.

The weekend begins with the free screening of the permaculture movie Inhabit at Press Bay Alley in downtown Ithaca. The film maker and at least one of the farms featured in the film will be present to take questions. The movie followed by a dance party with AstroHawk, Travis Knapp, Remstar Steele and Jacksonic. This is an intoxicant free environment. Read about it on Facebook. Donations accepted and encouraged.




Saturday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

If you haven’t already, check out the current listing of sites on Saturday’s tours. This newly updated list is available as a directory or on Google Maps.

The tour ends at the Fingerlakes Cider House where a reception begins at 4:30 p.m. Thhere will be music by local Folk-Jazz Fusionist Jen Cork, and a “Permaculture Artifacts” Raffle.

After the reception begins a ceremonial blessing and story telling presentation by Mike De Munn titled,Honoring and Healing the Forest” will begin at 5:30 p.m. Mike De Munn is a member of the Seneca Iroquois Hawk Clan and an adopted son of the Hawk Clan Mother. His family has lived in the Finger Lakes Region for eight generations. Author-artist of nature books and a professional educator, forester and ecologist, De Munn has worked in the Finger Lakes and the Northern Rockies for over 30 years. He was a founding member of the Finger Lakes Land Trust and he has done forest management consulting for the National State Parks and on hundreds of individual parcels of land. Currently, De Munn teaches at Ithaca College and he’s a consultant in forest ecology.

Sunday 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The weekend continues on Sunday with a Permaculture Convergence and Plant Sale in Montour Falls, NY. Check out our latest program that has more speakers and workshops added in the last week. There are now 19 choices on the convergence schedule.
Our local 4-H will be selling coffee and a light breakfast. A food truck will arrive by noon for lunches.
We will have an Expo Room of permaculture-related community groups and our event sponsors. If you would like to set up a table with information about your permaculture-related business, organization or site, please contact <convergence@fingerlakespermaculture.org> as soon as possible.


Please fill out the form on this main event web page to let us know you would like to help us out during any off the events. Upon arrival at Friday’s events ask for Rebecca, Pete or Laura to get you settled in and try to arrive by 5 p.m. During Saturday afternoon’s reception, look for Rebecca, Michael or Peter to fit you in. At the Convergence seek out Laura, Michael or Roger and arrive by 9 a.m. Volunteers may camp for free at Cayuta Sun Farm.


There are hundreds of Bed & Breakfast homes, dozens of hotels and many campgrounds in the area. A local hostel offfers affordable rooms: The Local. Camping is available for tour participants at Cayuta Sun Farm. Alumni and volunteers camp for free.
