This is your opportunity to see examples of permaculture in practice. Learn tactics you can apply at home. Experience the permaculture movement in our region through face-to-face networking. Enjoy a free introduction to the practice of permaculture.
You are encouraged to choose sites that interest you and your fellow travelers. Note: You may not be able to visit all sites in one day. It is highly advised that you visit the online links to each site available [here] to plan your trips.
We have over ten sites spread between Schuyler & Tompkins counties. There are a collection of educational sites, several farms and homesteads, and even a city park. There is no official starting point. Visitors are asked to plan their own trips based on time, location and interests. From the links on our website you can get a preview of which sites interest you most. We encourage you to examine the map on the attached file and to plan your route carefully. A trip between sites in Ithaca can take 10 to 20 minutes depending on traffic and your familiarity with local roads. Travel on the rural roads is a bit quicker but a trip from Ithaca to Cayuta Sun Farm or the Good Life Farm is still 25 to 30 minutes of drive time.
Where ever you are at 4 p.m. we invite you to go to the Ithaca Beer Company. They will offer a tour of their gardens from 4 to 6 p.m. and a reception with a few brief comments from some of the organizers and hosts at 6 p.m. We’ll also seek your feedback at the reception to improve upon the tour for future years. What is most important to ensure future years of tours is your attendance. Your participation in the tour is as important as that of our hosts. This will be a great chance for permaculture practitioners and enthusiasts to network and learn from each other.
